Supervision

I have recieved my training as a supervisor under Dr. Harlene Andrson at the Houston-Galveston Institute in 2004. Since then I have supervised many LPC-Interns and LMFT-Associates in an agency setting at Dallas Metrocare Services 2004-2005 and in private practice at Life Solutions. I have also supervised practicum students studying at online programs. I must declare that I do not provide supervisees with clients since I mostly work with insurd clients and insurance companies do not cover interns and associates. It is easier for the LMFT-Associates to establish a private practice and seek supervision outside of their practice than it is for LPC-Interns since LPC Board does not allow LPC-Interns to accept payment form clients directly.

My style is collaborative and do my best to meet the needs of my supervisees. I believe in developing the relationship, and understand my supervisee's' style, needs, strength, and ways that I could best meet their requirements. I strongly believe in supporting supervisees develop personally and professionally. It is my experience as a therapist is that the person of the therapist and her/his ability to develop a strong relationship with clients is extremely important since therapeutic alliance is based on trust. Therefore, I will support my supervisees' efforts in becoming a better version of themselves personally and professionally.

I do incorporate my supervisees' model of therapy and what would work best for them in the supervision practice. I do try to keep an open mind and maintain curiosity to understand the supervisees' conceptualization of their client's issues and their plan of action. In addition, when appropriate, I will share my own past experiences with similar cases, successes and failures to normalize therapeutic challenges as well as struggles with complicated cases.
